We’ll walk the fields, talk through real-world approaches to sourcing organic fertilizers, and share tips for coordinating bulk orders with nearby farms. Join us at the University of Arkansas Vegetable Research Station in Alma on October 7th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM for a field day focused on organic field crop production in the Mid-South. The event will feature expert presentations, discussions, and a tour of organic research plots evaluating weed control strategies. Farmers, researchers, and industry professionals are invited to learn about certification basics, market opportunities, organic edamame production, and the economics of organic field crops.
Join us at the White County Extension Office in Searcy on Tuesday, November 4th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for a training focused on the fundamentals of certified organic farming. The event will feature presentations from an organic certifier, a farmer panel, and partner organizations, along with farm visits to Firelight Farm and Wholly Cow Farm. County Extension agents will gain practical knowledge of organic standards, certification requirements, and first-hand insights from Arkansas farmers in specialty crops, livestock, and row crops.
